On Unconformities
Centre Pompidou, Paris, 2017
On Unconformities is an ongoing project by Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige composed of layered sculptures revealing the subterranean worlds of three cities that the artists live and work in: Athens, Paris, and Beirut. Through the geological and archeological stratas that are visibile in the core samples produced, the artists, together with archaeologists and scientists question the possible narratives and histories of the Anthropocene.
For this exhibition presented at the Centre Pompidou (Paris) in 2017, the artists won the Marcel Duchamp Prize.
